Kari Samuels’ October Forecast

Welcome to October!
It’s officially Autumn, my very favorite season. Kari brings her usual gentle cheerfulness to this month’s forecast, the theme of which seems to be relationships and learning to balance the needs of others with our own needs. This is an area of great growth potential for me, for sure.  Later in the month, the moon slips in to Scorpio (the sign the moon is in in my own birth chart), deepening everything.

Enjoy Kari’s beautifully articulated forecast, and have a wonderful October!

Unfiltered Thoughts on Creating the Business You Want

Hi, Everybody. Not long ago, I announced that I was re-launching my business under a new name. But, I have a confession to make: I have absolutely no idea what I am doing when it comes to creating a business.

I have made a couple of attempts. I have read mountains of literature, joined Facebook groups dedicated to Spiritual Entrepreneurs, talked endlessly with my husband and a few select friends about my doubts and misgivings, my hopes, and my ultimate dreams. Written pages and pages about what my ideal work day looks like. Visualized until I fall asleep in a stupor of delight at the images in my head. What I have not been able to do is get clients consistently.  (Should I even be wanting to “get clients”? If you read enough in those Spiritual Entrepreneur groups, you won’t think so. It’s almost as if getting clients is somehow nefarious and beside the point. It’s really difficult to have the time to help people, though, if you also have to work a 40 hour week and the boss gets to control your hours. What I want is to put out as much helpful material as possible and also be able to help one-on-one those women who need something more personal. It’s what I love and what I am good at. It’s what I have spent most of life learning to do.)

Perhaps this is my year. I like to think so. I have been steadily more and more successful at attracting what I want in almost every other aspect of my life, or else I have accepted that I need to leave it alone for now.  Not so with my work life. I feel the perpetual tug toward something beyond my 8-5, working-for-someone-else life. And I feel as though my dream is right around the corner, just waiting for me to notice it.

So, what’s the dream?

Ah, now that’s a good question! Here it is: I dream of lighting the way to joy for women who long for a deeper connection to themselves, their loved ones, and Source. I dream of doing that by teaching them everything I know, giving them every tool I have learned to use in my 25 years of reading, studying, practicing, and living.  I long to help them see themselves as beautiful, capable, brilliant, inherently loveable and worthy.  I long to see every woman relax into her own true self and strip away every single thing that does not serve her highest good.

The other part of the dream is how I do that, which is the same way I stripped off my own depression and reclaim every day my own sense of loveability and worthiness: through finding and using the tools that are most helpful. For me, those are Reiki, working with the chakra system, meditation, journaling, using crystals, working with my Guides, my Higher Self, and other high vibrational Beings, and through talking with like-minded friends and teachers. I believe those same things can help everyone. I believe I can teach anyone to use them.

Where I get lost and bogged down into utter paralysis is the HOW. What do I do first? Am I just making too big a deal out of the How? Gardening is teaching me to start where I am.  Cut down the dead black-eyed susans next to the front door because driving up to my lovely home and seeing their blackened stalks every day makes me sad. So, clip, clip. Harvest tomatoes because they will rot if I don’t. Yummy salsa and tomato topping on beans and rice. Pull out the monster tomato plant because it is shading out my peppers. Out it comes.  My current dilemma stems from figuring out how to translate that to my work. Start where I am….Hence, this long and winding blog post, baring my heart and mind to the wide and wise world (wise was actually what came out when I tried to type wide… message there, I suspect.).

You might also ask what makes me so damn qualified to teach anyone anything? Yep, I have asked myself that one. But I have a great answer: What I teach has worked for me; it has worked for my husband; it has worked for friends; it is working still for all of us. And there is more that I know that you don’t yet know: the first time I tried to kill myself, I was 5 years old. in the kitchen, with a big bread knife that had a little hook on the end. That feeling never went away until 2014, when I was 40 years old. When it did, it was because I finally started actively using what I had spent over 20 years learning about. I started doing the work. And, in 3 years, I went from suicidal to full of joy, actively creating a life I want to LIVE, not die to get away from.

Even in my 8-5 day job, I have brought into my life a position where my co-workers are friends and connection with them feeds my soul in ways I never expected. But the work….the work is not what I am meant to be doing.  And we’ve circled back around to the current issue.

So, what to do? I know what I would recommend to a client.
1. Get Quiet: pull the plug on technological distractions like Facebook, email, Twitter, Instagram, etc. Disconnect from others so you can more clearly hear yourself.

2. Go Within: whatever your favorite form of meditation is, do that. Do it for as long as you can. Get your mind clear. And to that end…

3. Write: get out a notebook. Write at least 3 pages longhand with an actual pen whatever comes into your mind. DO NOT CENSOR! Write as fast as you can, not stopping until all 3 pages have been filled. Stream-of-consciousness writing pulls out all sorts of things you never knew were in your head.

4. If some kind of clarity is still not coming through by this point, you can either start over, talk to a trusted friend, or let it rest. Any of those options is perfectly ok. It can take more than once through this process to clear out enough of the built up junk in your brain – the clutter of to-dos, “news”, work and family obligations, and other detritus- for the good stuff to have room to come to the top.

So, here is my action plan, folks. Many, many deep bows and sincere thanks for letting me get that out there into the Ethers.  Lots of thank-you hugs and Reiki blessings for following along on my journey.

Kari Samuels’ September Forecast

With seeming lighting speed, summer is transitioning in to fall, my absolute favorite season, and we are on the brink of September. I look forward every month to Kari’s forecast, as she seems to have such a sweet and gentle way of letting us know which energies are doing what, and such helpful advice for how to work with them.

I have not yet watched this one, but I know it’s just chock full of goodness.  I hope your last few days of August are glorious, and wish you a magnificent September!

New Business Name and September Specials

I have been working on building my own business as a teacher of spiritual concepts, Reiki practitioner, and Akashic Records reader for a couple of years, now, with varying degrees of success. My commitment to it has been lacking, though, and so the success I really want from my business has been elusive, to say the least.

Several months ago, I began working with The Morrigan. One of the major components of that work is opening myself up to bringing my skills, knowledge and gifts to others so that they can, in turn, shine their light more brightly into the world. She has been pushing me at every turn to write, share, teach, and help. Doing so means that I must set aside my fear of exposure, of being seen, of being thought a fraud or a pretender.  She reminds me that I have spent the best part of my 43 years learning, reading, interacting with non-physical Guides, Angels, and Teachers, healing my own splintered psyche with the techniques, concepts, and practices that I want to teach to others. I’ve absorbed hundreds of books, videos, and articles, spent hours journaling, meditating, visualizing, and changing my mindset. If I am not ready now to share what I know, I will never be ready.

With that in mind, I offer my first official services under my new business name (the first name I have created specifically for it…) :

Welcome to Ananda Grove
Intuitive and Spiritual Coaching!

forest-portal

My first offering is a short term program created by working with several women I know personally. It is a Targeted Healing program, designed to address a specific, stubborn block that has not responded well to other healing methods. It combines chakra work, Reiki, and work in the Akashic Records in a 5 week program. Included in the program is the following:

  • 5 full, one-hour distance Reiki sessions with email follow up
  • Chakra scans included in each Reiki treatment
  • 2 Akashic Records sessions to clear any lingering past life entanglements
  • Includes past life, alternate life or other work in the Akashic Records
  • AR sessions are scheduled 1 at the beginning of the program time and 1 at a time of your choice
  • Every session – Reiki or Akashic Records – has email follow up so you have your summaries for later review
  • All sessions are conducted via email and/or phone
  • Total program time is 5 weeks
  • Total cost for 5 Reiki treatments, 2 AR sessions, 5 Chakra scans, and email support is $525.

If you would like more information about what Reiki is and how a distance session works with the chakra scan, please read my Reiki FAQ. For more information about the program or to get started, please contact me at linettecchance@gmail.com

I also offer one-off Reiki sessions and Akashic Records sessions.

Reiki Distance Healing Sessions:
Reiki is a healing modality that helps the recipient’s own body heal itself. Distance treatments include a chakra scan and are conducted at the client’s convenience with a follow up via email detailing the images, messages, and any other pertinent information received at each chakra point. One additional follow up email is included in the cost of the session.

I only offer one-hour sessions, as the chakra scan that happens along with the treatment is difficult to restrict to less than that. The recipient does not have to be immobile for the entire session.

Distance treatments with chakra scan are $73.  If you would like to bundle treatments, please contact me for more information and pricing.

Akashic Records Sessions:
The Akashic Records are a repository of all of a person, place, animal, or situation’s thoughts, feelings, and actions across all timelines and planes of existence.  There is really no limit to what the Records can be used for. I specialize in Past Life readings, where we address a current life issue within the context of previous lifetime traumas. This offering is especially for those who have spent time doing mindset work for specific issues, with little success.

AR sessions are 30 minutes or an hour long, and conducted by phone or email. The cost is $45 for 30 minutes, and $73 for an hour.

Lastly, Reiki Level 1 Certification classes are now forming in Goshen.

Reiki I Certification Classes:

  • Classes forming now for September and October
  • Reiki level I classes cover:
    • History of Reiki
    • Reiki cleanse
    • Ethics of Reiki
    • General discussion of the nature of Reiki
    • Hand positions for treating self and others
    • Monetary exchange for treating others
    • Reiki level I attunement
    • Practice treating self and others
  • Classes are 4-5 hours long (depending on class size), and include a vegetarian lunch (or feel free to bring your own)
  • Cost is $150, with a $50 discount if paid two weeks in advance of class date

Please email me at linettecchance@gmail.com to discuss class dates

Hello, August! and, Kari Samuels’ Monthly Forecast

Here we are looking toward Autumn from the late summer glory of August. July was a challenging month for many, including me, what with Jason’s knee injury, getting settled into our new home, and adjusting to the massive energy uplevel that came with the move. I’m looking forward to August being a time of continued integration of new, higher frequencies, gardening, and breathing life into my infant business (more on that later).

I look forward every month to Kari Samuels’ forecast, in which she blends astrology, numerology, tarot, and spiritual guidance. I am sharing her forecast for August here, and it looks to be a time of intense clearing and seed-planting.

That’s all I’ve got for today. Enjoy the video!

Unfiltered Thoughts on Creating Your Reality

Creating your own reality does not mean that you decide what you want, imagine every detail, wave your magic wand, and BANG! You wake up to the world you created, whole and complete.

At least it doesn’t mean that for me. And I suspect it doesn’t mean that for a lot…dare I say, most….people.

Instead, creating your own reality really happens in the small choices you make every day, moment to moment, about what you will and won’t believe, what you will and won’t give your attention and focus to, what you will and won’t allow into your life.

A shift happened inside me at some point in the last two years. I decided to just believe whatever I want to. A big, ole F you to anyone who thought I was nuts, stupid, gullible, or childish. I had long been drawn to “magickal” things and ideas…energy manipulation, manifestation, moving sideways along alternate realities, faeries, tree beings, and on and on. I was afraid to surrender to what I feared some would view as a child-like indulgence of imagination, especially since I was heavily invested in being the smart, studious girl I had earned a reputation for being. Smart girls and faeries did not go together in my world. But, little by little, I began to see that I could re-write the story of myself. I wasn’t stuck being the character I had created for myself. Just like a figure in a story, I could erase parts and change them. So, that’s what I have been doing.

It all really started with learning to accept certain things about myself, and peel away things that I had taken on, but that no longer suited me. For example, I have always loved knowing how things work. It’s a near-biological need to understand why this happens when I pull, push, twist, or throw that. That part of me has helped me begin to understand how to get what I want, how to manipulate the laws that govern our physical plane to move myself in the direction I want to go. For me, it is truly no different from understanding why my car goes when I push on the gas pedal (although some things are more important for me to retain than others…lol) Accepting my need to understand meant that I could strip away my feelings of nosiness, guilt, even shame, for probing into things that some considered none of my business, or that led me to information that was not always backed up by scientific research.  I do dearly love research, but I found that only accepting things that had a scientific backing no longer served me. So I let it go.

The work of accepting myself and stripping away things that are not myself led to moments of being allowed to glimpse the Mystery. I had what I have since called a Waterfall moment, when it felt like my head opened up and pure loving energy flowed in. The experience last for about 15 minutes, and it changed me. I started to see things out of the corner of my eye. I found Reiki and my friend Laura, who has mentored me and loved me as friend, sister, and child for lifetimes. I began to hear music in the still dark. I began to notice things about others that were different from my memory of them.  I began to find that if I sent loving energy to someone who was being rude or mean to me, they often came back either entirely changed or changed toward me. And I began to believe my eyes and ears and intuition.

In each moment that I see, hear, or sense something that is outside the norm, I find that I have a split-second decision to make: do I trust this or do I not trust this. Do I accept this as real or do I not accept this as real. It comes down to an almost subconscious choice to trust myself and the Universe.  But I can make that choice because I did all the other work, all the small, slow steps leading up to this. The Veil is parting wider for me because I chose each time the opportunity presented itself to look to the other side and not turn my back. When I heard the voice and felt the waves of energy from my Tree friends, I opened my heart and hugged them with my arms, even though I felt silly the first few times and wondered if I was losing my mind. I did not turn my back on Them and pretend I didn’t hear. And the first time I felt that an animal had a message for me, I accepted it for truth and went about trying to figure out what the message was. And when I saw a flit of iridescent wings and an echo of giggles, I stood in wonder and thanks for the gift of having seen my first faery since childhood. For every new Mystery glimpsed, I offer thanks, and I refuse to turn my back any more. This is how I create my reality. This is how you will create your reality, too.

Acknowledge what you want. Devote your attention to looking for the things you want. Be aware of what is reality for others, for it could impact you, too, especially in the beginning, but do not allow yourself to be drawn into their version of what is true. It’s like being aware that there are other tv channels playing other things, but since you don’t want to watch those other channels, they cease to mean anything significant to you.

You will find whatever you look for. I promise.

What Happens After I Agree to Work With a Goddess? 9 Suggestions for Where to Start

During last nights’s New Moon meditation, I began to wonder how to work with my new Goddess friend now that I had connected with her, and she kindly offered some suggestions. They seem useful no matter which Goddess you work with, so I wanted to share them here.  (For help connecting with your patron Goddess, or a temporary guide Goddess, please see my offering, here.)

  1. Write a letter to her introducing yourself and explaining what you hope to accomplish with her help.  She can’t help or guide you if she doesn’t know what direction you would like to go. Write it in the same spirit with which you would explain to a teach er or therapist what you hoped to accomplish by working with them.
  2. Ask her what she would like to teach you. Perhaps there is something your Higher Self wants to learn and that part of you contacted this Goddess for that specific purpose.
  3. Ask her what she would like in return. This is not a one-way street. She will want something in return for her time and effort, whether it is simple friendship and an acknowledgement of her presence and influence, or something more material, like offerings, poetry, or some other physical action. Ask in meditation, and listen for the answers.
  4. Read about her history and culture.  What pantheon is she associated with? Greek? Roman? Egyptian? Find out what her native people believed about her.
  5. Then, tune in to her in meditation and ask her if the stories are true.  You may find that they are often exaggerated or skewed to fit the prevailing attitudes of the people she is associated with.  Ask her what she wants you to know about her.
  6. Read and learn about any totem animals or other symbols she is associated with, and learn to watch for those signs.
  7. Ask her if there are other signs you can watch for to know that she is near or has her hand in the current situation.
  8. Find out if she is fond of certain crystals, or loves particular places (such as bodies of water, forests, or mountains) and incorporate those into your life, as much as possible.
  9. Figure out which chakra(s) she is associated with.  That will tell you a lot about how to work with her, what lessons are in store, and how to proceed with learning them.

Approach your new friendship exactly as you would friendship with a human, physical person… go slowly, show respect, offer the benefit of the doubt, and make every effort to understand.  These are the foundations of a healthy, vibrant relationship that will be beneficial to you both!

A Meditation for Troubled Times ;)

Sometimes, when things just don’t seem to be going the way you want them to, the only thing you can do is laugh. That’s why I was overjoyed to see this meditation going around on Facebook again. As a meditation, it is good. As a humor break, it is wonderful.

**Please be aware that there is A LOT of adult language in this video meditation. **

Find a quiet space, get comfy, and let this guided meditation help you release all your cares. 😉

Shared from Seth Godin, “It’s Not My Problem”

I get Seth Godin’s daily blog post in my email each morning. This morning’s piece wanted to be shared around.

“It’s not my problem”

But what if it was?

What if the apparently intractable cultural issues that you take for granted were instead seen as problems on your desk, things you could influence?

What if the rules others take for granted are seen by you and your team as standards you can change?

What if we take the responsibility instead of waiting for it to be offered?

Everyday Magick Tips: 15 Ideas For Bringing the Sacred to Your Daily Life

We could all use a little more whimsy, enchantment, and connection in our daily lives. Here are some things I have done and used to do just that:

  1. Create one or more altars.
An altar is just a sacred, special space set aside for a particular purpose. You can set the intention for anything you like: greater abundance, healing, and a closer connection to the Divine are all popular altar themes. Once you know what your altar is in honor of, then you can choose items that are meaningful to you that reinforce what you want to focus on. For example, a healing altar might have crystals that promote healing, a photo of something that makes you think of being healthy and healed, a letter you write to your body, or anything that has meaning to you and pertains to the theme of the altar. You can also set up a general household altar that has a more all-purpose meaning. It really is up to you!  Try setting up multiple altars around your home. Any flat surface will do – even vertical ones – and you can add anything that is meaningful to you and relates to the theme you’ve chosen.

  2. Meditate
Meditation gets a bad rap, sometimes. People think it’s hard or you have to spend a lot of time at it, neither of which is true. Meditation simply means to focus on the space between thoughts. That can happen during a lot of activities: washing dishes, an art project, swinging on the front porch swing, or lying in your bed on the verge of sleep. The idea is to create an empty, still space for new intuitions to emerge and to allow your mind to relax.

An easy way to begin is to focus on your breath and focus on what it feels like to inhale, and then exhale. Notice each tiny sensation. Before long, your body and mind begin to relax, and lo, and behold! You are meditating!

If you would like more guidance on how to meditate, there are countless videos on youtube.com that will help you relax and find that space between your thoughts in no time. I especially like the ones with binaural beats or brain entrainment elements.

  3. Be Aware
Pay attention to your surroundings! Engage all five senses while mentally naming each sensation. Does the air smell like grass? Like oil and car exhaust? Like food? What is the air temperature like…too hot? Too cold? Just right? What about sounds? What do you see? It doesn’t take a lot of time, but paying attention to what’s around you and taking a moment to name those sights, sounds, smells, textures, and even emotions can tune you in to the magic of the moment, adding an element of joy and pleasure to your day.
  4. Buy yourself some flowers
I very often see grocery store bouquets for $5 or less. You can break them up into smaller arrangements and scatter them all around your home or office to bring some life and color and the special joy that flowers bring.  Flowers also invite faeries to visit!
  5. Play with a pet
Your pets miss you while you’re away, and playing with them even for just a few minutes can soothe you both and help you reconnect.
  6. Make your last 5 minutes before sleep count
What you think about in your last 5 minutes before sleep is what your brain ruminates on all night. Make it something that will help you, rather than hurt. For example, if you go to bed thinking about how awful your life is, your mind spends all night reinforcing that thought with dreams, hormones, repeating thoughts, and you wake up in the morning feeling as though the day is already a disaster! Try a week where, before you go to sleep, you think about all the things you are grateful for. Make them up if you have to, but do not resort to sarcasm. Feel grateful as best you can. After a week, you will see a difference in how your days go! (For more tips on making your sleep a spiritual practice, read my blog post here.)

  7. Write wish lists
The Universe cannot bring us things it does not know we want.  Often, we don’t know what we want, ourselves. Take some time to write down all the big and little things you want from your life and your day. From very small things like a cup of that Chai Latte, to very large things like the home of your dreams, WRITE IT DOWN. The act of writing it imbues the wish with emotion and energy, making it more likely to find its way to you.
  8. Place meaningful objects around your home
Frame the photos on your phone, bring in the beautiful dead tree branch from your yard, get the old desk out of the garage that was your grandfather’s that you just love. Our homes are a reflection of what means the most to us. But…..
  9. Get serious – and brutal – about what you keep in your home
There is a famous quote about not keeping anything in your home that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.  Clutter can quickly take the shine off of being at home, making it feel overwhelming, stressful, and unhappy. Start small or go big, but get rid of anything you no longer love or use.

  10. Look for signs
There are signs everywhere that God/The Universe/ Spirit/Big Momma is watching over you, loves you, and wants you to be happy. Sure, you could say they are coincidence, but which is more fun- thinking that nobody “up there” cares, or that you are the beloved child of something greater than yourself? If you choose the latter, there will be evidence for you to find… repeating numbers, happy “accidents”, information that comes to you at just the right time, even people appearing in your life just when you need them! (Psst…I don’t believe in coincidence…to read more about that, click here)

  11. Write Morning Pages
The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron describes Morning Pages like this: 3 pages, long-hand, stream-of-consciousness writing, done first thing in the morning before your brain has a chance to wake that cranky old Editor who lives in there and inhibits you.  Try it for 30 days and see what you think.
  12. Edit your input
Every single thing that goes into your brain stays there forever. Facebook is a prime garbage dump to pick up stuff that doesn’t serve you: Do you really need your cousin’s rant about her neighbors rattling around in your mind? What about the racist jokes your friend from high school posts that just make you mad?  TV is another medium that offers more harmful content than good, in my opinion: Do you really need another gory image of a dead body in your head along with the story line from Criminal Minds? I don’t. I am happier without them. Be careful what you put into your mind. Books, movies, conversations, all contribute to the climate of your emotional landscape. And you can control that—so, DO!

  13. Smile at strangers
Just do it and see what happens.  🙂
  14. Do something fun or silly
Why should silliness stop at age 10? Who says fun has to be reserved for weekend nights? Make faces at yourself in the mirror, record a video of yourself on Snapchat, play a game with your spouse or kids, dress up in a silly outfit and just wear it around the house…whatever strikes your fancy.
  15. Sleep in
Don’t set an alarm, make sure your bed is cozy, comfy, and clean, and sleep until you wake up naturally.

We are not here to simply pay bills and die (that’s a whole other post…). We are here to feel joy in its many, many forms. Adding joy and magick to your everyday is not difficult or time-consuming and can really enhance your life. Feel free to share your suggestions in the comments!
